Fairy Tale Unmaskings

Disney CastleAs part of a 7-day project of a Digital Writing for the Media course I took in the Summer of 2014, I began to write these blogs in which I unmasked Walt Disney’s sugarcoated films and presented the recorded versions of the fairy tales that have been published throughout the centuries. The fairy tales we know today are light and sweet all thanks to Walt Disney’s animated films. But what many people don’t know is that most fairy tales are quite gruesome. These children stories are pretty disturbing and not so sugary as we think. So, even if you’ve watched all of Disney’s films, it doesn’t mean you know the tale. It means you know part of it, and just the nice part at most. There’s a darker side to these stories, a darker side that most people can’t even imagine it could be possible. That’s why my mission is to present to you this darker side of our fairy tales.

No more sugarcoated stories, my friends. It’s time to show you the true colors of our “Once Upon a Time”…

Unmasked Fairy Tales so far:

  1. Little Red Riding Hood
  2. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  3. Cinderella
  4. Sleeping Beauty

  8. Unmasking Disney’s Winnie the Pooh
